Product Development Consultant

Based: From home - ideally in the vicinity of Oxfordshire/Midlands

Salary: Circa £40k

Our client is a small, suc­cess­ful nutritional/supplements com­pany and due to recent growth they are seek­ing a con­sul­tant to man­age all activ­i­ties relat­ing to prod­uct devel­op­ment. These include man­ag­ing exter­nal research & devel­op­ment teams/relationships, all activ­i­ties relat­ing to patents, process eval­u­a­tions, reg­u­la­tory and com­pli­ance issues, tech­ni­cal sales sup­port and tech­nol­ogy transfer.

Can­di­dates should pos­sess the following:

• Min­i­mum 10 years expe­ri­ence in new prod­uct devel­op­ment or R&D ide­ally within the con­sumer health­care sec­tor but a back­ground in OTC med­i­cines or the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal indus­try would also be considered.

• Expe­ri­ence of man­ag­ing R&D teams• Expe­ri­ence of man­ag­ing exter­nal sup­pli­ers eg reg­u­la­tory con­sul­tants, patent lawyers and devel­op­ment companies

• Expe­ri­ence in all mat­ters relat­ing to patents, com­pli­ance and reg­u­la­tory for new products

• BSc (Hons) qual­i­fi­ca­tion as a min­i­mum – MSc or PHD preferred

IT Director (ERP, CRM & applications)

Based: Middlesex

Salary: To £100k basic plus extensive benefits

Our client is a global suc­cess story in the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal sec­tor and con­tin­ues to go from strength to strength. They are cur­rently seek­ing an IT Direc­tor to join their inter­na­tional team and take respon­si­bil­ity for CRM, Busi­ness Ana­lyt­ics and ERP sys­tems in the Euro­pean region. This is a crit­i­cal appoint­ment and requires the fol­low­ing skills:

  • Pre­vi­ous expe­ri­ence in a direc­tor level role and a back­ground in appli­ca­tions and soft­ware devel­op­ment management.
  • Knowl­edge of Ora­cle at an enter­prise level would be of great inter­est. Cog­nos or Siebel would also be of interest.
  • Excel­lent peo­ple man­age­ment skills includ­ing career devel­op­ment and growth.
  • Strong project man­age­ment experience.
  • Expe­ri­ence in out­sourc­ing and man­ag­ing off-shore partners.
  • A track record in the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal, biotech­nol­ogy or other sim­i­larly reg­u­lated indus­try will be given priority.

Laboratory/Operations Manager

Based: Hertfordshire

Salary: To £35k plus benefits

Our client is a small, rapidly devel­op­ing com­pany spe­cial­is­ing in research & devel­op­ment for the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal sec­tor. They are cur­rently seek­ing an oper­a­tions man­ager to take respon­si­bil­ity for the work­load of a small sci­en­tific team and to man­age a vari­ety of client projects in the areas of pre-formulation and sol­u­ble inter­me­di­ate design. They will also be involved in the devel­op­ment of new ser­vice offerings.

The ideal can­di­date should have:

  • 3 to 5 years min­i­mum indus­try expe­ri­ence in R&D in a phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal com­pany, prefer­ably in pre­for­mu­la­tion or early phase pre­clin­i­cal devel­op­ment. Can­di­dates with sim­i­lar expe­ri­ence in a con­tract research organ­i­sa­tion sup­port­ing the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal indus­try would also be of interest.
  • Recent expe­ri­ence of man­ag­ing a lab­o­ra­tory envi­ron­ment and mod­ern equipment/techniques
  • Project man­age­ment and / or line man­age­ment skills is essential.
  • A PhD in a rel­e­vant field is pre­ferred (or equiv­a­lent expe­ri­ence in the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal industry).
  • Excel­lent com­mu­ni­ca­tion and team build­ing skills

Analytical Scientist

Our client is a small but rapidly grow­ing and highly suc­cess­ful com­pany offer­ing lead­ing edge research & devel­op­ment ser­vices to the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal indus­try. As part of a strate­gic growth plan they are now seek­ing an Ana­lyt­i­cal Sci­en­tist to join the lab team.

The main focus of the role will be to work on all client for­mu­la­tion projects by pro­vid­ing ana­lyt­i­cal and data inter­pre­ta­tion ser­vices. They will also be tasked with keep­ing the lab­o­ra­tory run­ning smoothly.

The suc­cess­ful can­di­date will be expected to assist in the cre­ation of val­i­da­tion plans and pro­to­cols in line with GMP, be capa­ble of multi-project man­age­ment, and have sound knowl­edge of a vari­ety of ana­lyt­i­cal equip­ment for qual­i­fi­ca­tion and calibration.

The ideal can­di­date will have:

  • A degree in a Chem­istry related sub­ject and pos­si­bly a PHD or MSC in a drug deliv­ery related topic.
  • Ana­lyt­i­cal exper­tise, pri­mar­ily in HPLC method devel­op­ment and val­i­da­tion, dis­so­lu­tion test­ing, sta­bil­ity testing.
  • They should also have good prac­ti­cal expe­ri­ence of work­ing with a vari­ety of method­olo­gies either in an aca­d­e­mic envi­ron­ment or com­mer­cial lab­o­ra­tory. These method­olo­gies might include some of the fol­low­ing:
    HPLC, DSC, XRD, BET, IR, Dis­so­lu­tion test­ing, TGA, KF, PSD ser­vices, GC, PLM, HSM, NMR, DVS, True Den­sity, SEM, SEM EDAX, Micro­ni­sa­tion, DMA, Isother­mal microcalorime­try, DVS-NIR, Lena nano.

National Sales Manager – pharmaceuticals or healthcare insurance

The ideal can­di­date will pos­sess the following:

  • An excel­lent track record in sales, account man­age­ment and team man­age­ment within the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal indus­try. Can­di­dates from other health­care indus­tries and health­care insur­ance where clients have included the med­ical pro­fes­siona, will also be considered.
  • Demon­stra­ble expe­ri­ence in sales man­age­ment – prob­a­bly at National Sales Man­ager level where you will have man­aged regional sales man­agers (or sim­i­lar) and their teams.
  • The abil­ity to think strate­gi­cally and to add value at board level in sug­gest­ing new ideas and strate­gies for the sales process
  • An hon­ours degree
  • They will also be a strong net­worker, be a tough but fair man­ager, a team player and used to man­ag­ing teams remotely.
